Domingo Sais - once owned the entire 6,658 acres of Canada de Herrera, the Mexican Land Grant he was given by the Mexican government in 1839 in recognition of his army service. When Dr. Taliaferro, Marin's first physician, admired the beautiful glen, Sais gave him the 30 plus acres to have the good doctor as a neighbor. When Dr. Taliaferro's friend and fellow Virginian~ Charles Fairfax was married in 1885, Taliaferro gave the newlyweds the property as a wedding gift. |
